Are you an experienced Engineering Manager? Have you had exposure to electrical, mechanical and refrigeration repairs in a warehouse/industrial environment? If so, then we might have the role for you!

 

Here at GXO, we’re looking for a full-time, permanent Facilities Engineering Manager to join us on our multi-temperature Iceland site in the new Warrington Omega site. Managing a small team of engineers, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the sites facilities are operational on a day-to-day basis and that all repairs are carried out in a compliant, timely and cost-effective manner.

 

You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 8 till 4, however this is a 24/7 site, and you will want to flex sometimes to to see all shifts, this is logistics after all, the role requires availability for out of hours call and occasional support for the other depots in the network.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Manage a team that deal with reactive and PPM work on a range of electrical and mechanical equipment, such as HVAC, boilers, CCTV, electric motors, and vehicle dock levelling equipment
  • Oversee all maintenance repair and installation work involved with the operation of a large industrial ammonia refrigeration plant
  • Ensure that all systems and on-site technology are managed in line with appropriate compliance, guidance, warranties, and best practice
  • Define and specify maintenance methods and frequencies, ensuring the compliance and quality of work of our in-house and contracted engineers
  • Vet’, induct and oversee / manage all aspects of visiting contractors including the induction & permit to work process

 

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • ONC/CITY AND GUILDS mechanical/electrical
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering as well as all aspects of refrigeration to E.N 378-2000 standards
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to make business decisions, ensure effective cost control manage the maintenance budget
  • Time-served practical experience in an industrial electrical or mechanical environment, preferably with exposure to logistics
  • A mechanical or electrical engineering qualification and health and safety certification (IOSH as a minimum)
  • Desirable – HNC mechanical/electrical
  • Trade apprenticeship with 10 to 15 years’ experience
