Do you want to play a vital role in keeping our transport operation running smoothly by safely moving trailers around the yard and ensuring efficient loading and unloading. Here at GXO we are looking for Shunters to join us at our new site in Wellingborough. You’ll be part of a team that works closely together to keep operations on track and ensure deliveries are completed efficiently.

You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis, contracted to 40 hours per week. We are currently recruiting for the following patterns:

• Monday to Friday, covering the hours of 06:00 to 14:00
• Monday to Friday, covering the hours of 14:00 to 22:00
• Sunday to Thursday, covering the hours of 22:00 to 06:00

This role requires a degree of flexibility to work weekends in line with business needs.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Safely manoeuvre trailers and vehicles around the yard, using a shunter vehicle, ensuring smooth and efficient site operations
• Position trailers onto bays in readiness for loading and unloading, maintaining yard organisation at all times
• Carry out daily vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any defects, damage, or wear and tear promptly
• Work closely with warehouse, transport, and site teams to ensure health & safety procedures and operational requirements are consistently met

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph cards
• No more than six penalty points on your licence (no TT, DD, DR, DG, BA, AC, LC or CD endorsements)
• Previous shunting experience is desirable, but full training can be provided
