Transport Planner

Join us as our Transport Planner based in our Elland depot, for our customer Marshalls. You’ll be allocating specific vehicles with our driver colleagues, arranging for delivery of our product and ensuring processes are adhered to, whilst providing most cost-effective solutions with operational excellence.
This is a full time, permanent position with contracted hours of 40 per week. Monday to Friday with hours of 08:00 to 16:30 (ad-hoc flexibility for business needs, this is logistics after all!).

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Optimise delivery plans to maximise efficiency, ensure KPI performance, and minimise cost while maintaining strong customer service levels
- Act as the central link between Sales, Operations, Logistics, Driver Support and external hauliers, ensuring smooth communication and timely order fulfilment
- Manage customer delivery lead times (ATP) and ensure all systems are accurately maintained with up‑to‑date routing, resource availability and operational details
- Drive continuous improvement by analysing performance, producing KPI reports, identifying bottlenecks, and contributing to strategic planning and budgeting
- Build strong stakeholder relationships while supporting colleagues with training, problem‑solving and collaborative enhancements to cost, service, and delivery processes
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills
- Proven experience in transport planning, with the ability to work independently, organise workload effectively and adapt to changing business needs
- Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills, confident engaging with senior management and acting as a link between Logistics, Sales and Operations
- Logical, detail‑focused thinker who performs well under pressure and demonstrates a high level of commitment
- Skilled problem‑solver with the ability to analyse information, make sound decisions, and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment
