First Line Manager

We are currently recruiting for 2x First Line Managers to support the operation within our Warehouse Team at our B&Q site in Worksop. This is a chance to be part of a fast paced and challenging area of work, assisting the Shift Operations Manager in maintaining performance of the warehouse operations whilst managing both a team of warehouse operatives as well as managing your area of responsibility within the warehouse!
This is a full time, permanent position, predominately working on a rotating day shift pattern, covering the hours of 06:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 22:00, Sunday to Thursday. However, we do ask for some flexibility, this is logistics after all.

You’ll be paid a salary ranging from £34,000 to £38,000, depending on experience and will receive 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Be responsible for achieving operational targets, goals and contractual KPI’s
- Manage and motivate the team by giving direction and leadership, monitoring performance to ensure the depot achieves high performance levels
- Ensure operational targets are met on a weekly and monthly basis as well as providing accurate daily information to enable an effective handover
- Proactively encourage a positive and constructive relationship on site with the union and union representatives
- Enforce Health & Safety standards and safe working practices
- Ensure any disciplinary action is carried out following company procedure and aim to resolve grievances on a day-to-day basis by leading by example
- Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Demonstrable experience within a similar role, experience supervising a team and an operational understanding of a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace
- Basic PC literacy and experience with Warehouse Management Systems
- Ability to work flexibly across rotating shifts
