QESH Business Partner - Belgium

As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced QESH Business Partner to join our team and support the growing needs of our operations in the Belgium Region. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by driving our safety-first culture across multiple locations. With regular travel between Mechelen, Zellik, Tongeren, Antwerp, Welkenraedt and Liege, this is an exciting time to join GXO and help us uphold our commitment to operational excellence and a safe working environment.
As QESH Business Partner you will manage a dedicated team of QESH Officers assigned to the sites as part of the region under your responsibility. You will ensure the QESH Officers fulfil their tasks and responsibilities in a structural and in a high-quality manner. Additionally, you will assure that matters related to health, safety, quality management, security an environment are managed properly within this region as part of the QESH BeNe departments’ policy and scope of work.
What you do on a typical day
- Manage designated QESH Officers of site’s that are part of the Belgium Region on their tasks and responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of the Corporate cultural change programs including “Road to Zero” at local level
- Support designated QESH Officers on complex, difficult or high-level cases within the QESH BeNe department’s scope of work
- Perform requested and unannounced audits, checks or inspections on relevant QESH topics within region South
- Assist and support in external audits on request of designated QESH Officer or Site Manager in case of high risk or compliance issues either pre-audit, during audit or post-audit
- Develop policy and procedures, in cooperation with the QESH Manager BeNe which will be implemented as standards within the BeNe organization on QESH related topics
- Develop and maintain, in cooperation with the QESH Manager BeNe a professional and structured framework for the QESH officers to assure effective advices and results towards other stakeholders’ part of the BeNe organization
- Draft audit and inspection reports based on internal audits, checks and inspections which provide actions, advice and guidelines in assuring compliancy to QESH related topics, in cooperation with designated QESH Officers
- Cooperate with external suppliers to work towards solutions which helps the organization if required to do so due to unavailable competence or solutions internally
- Escalation and intervention towards the Site Managers in cooperation with QESH Manager BeNe in case of emergency or major nonconformities identified which form a business risk as part of QESH related topics
- Involved and approval of incident management and all activities involved to assure proper start and completion of such
- Translate law and regulation into usable and practical advices which fit within the organizational structure and methods of work in cooperation with QESH Manager BeNe
- Promote the integration and use of a well-established quality management system based on applicable quality standards, such as NEN-ISO 9001 and NEN-ISO 14001
- Engender and operate in a culture of zero tolerance of accidents and self-inflicted incidents
- Aid and support where required to the QESH Manager BeNe for projects or reports both internally as externally required
What you need to succeed at GXO
- Experience in NEN-EN ISO 9001, NEN-EN ISO 14001 and other relevant applicable standards depending on site’s needs
- Experience of leading and managing a team
- Broad experience in the field of Health & Safety
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English required
- Self-driven, resilient and able to thrive in a challenging environment
- Committed to delivering high quality work and have a professional critical attitude
- Result-oriented and like to work pro-actively
- People person and have great communication skills
