Transport Shift Manager

Join GXO as a Transport Shift Manager and take ownership of a busy transport operation supporting the Greene King contract. Leading a team of drivers, transport clerks and operational colleagues, you'll ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time while maintaining high standards of compliance and customer service. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced transport professional who enjoys developing people, managing performance and making a real impact within a fast-paced logistics environment.

 

This is a full-time permanent position working any ‘5 days from 7’ with working hours of: 05:00 -13:00 and 10:00 -18:00.  There will be a requirement to work on some Saturdays.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £42,000 per annum, and 33 days annual leave (bank holidays are a normal working day). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring service and compliance targets are achieved
  • Manage, coach and develop drivers and transport colleagues to maximise performance
  • Monitor operational KPIs and take action to resolve issues and improve efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with Driver Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive and Operator Licence requirements
  • Work closely with planning, warehouse and customer teams to deliver operational excellence

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Previous experience managing transport operations within a fast-paced logistics environment
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation, Driver Hours Regulations and Operator Licence compliance
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and engage teams
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, customer service and continuous improvement
  • International CPC qualification, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent transport management experience
