Transport Team Manager (Nights)

You’ll be joining our dynamic, collaborative team on night shift as Transport Team Manager, for our customer Sainsburys in our Basingstoke depot. This is a great opportunity to utilise your passion for people and safety first leadership and driving performance.
This is a full time, permanent position working on nights. Shift pattern of 40 hours per week (5 out of 7, with start times between 18:00 to 22:00).

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £38,210.16 (plus night allowance of is £3120) per annum and 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Day‑to‑day management of a busy transport operation, ensuring work is issued and dispatched on time, fleet utilisation is optimised, and service risks are escalated appropriately
- Ownership of on‑road issues and delivery failures, liaising with customers, resolving problems quickly, and driving root‑cause solutions
- Engaging, hands‑on people leadership, delivering effective pre‑shift briefings and de‑briefs, alongside coaching, training, performance and absence management
- Full transport compliance accountability, covering drivers’ hours, vehicle safety, audit readiness, record accuracy, and adherence to GXO and customer quality standards
- Commitment to safety and site processes, ensuring Safe Systems of Work, Health & Safety regulations, payroll, yard management, fleet collections and all site‑based processes are followed
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Passion to deliver in a fast-paced transport operation, with previous transport experience in a supervisory role
- Experience in using transport management systems and MS packages
- Proven knowledge of driver/transport legislation and proud to deliver compliance
- Strong communication skills, with ability to work on own initiative as well as team engagement/delivery
