The annual salary range for this role is $136,455.00 - $151,617.00. GXO, in good faith, believes this is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in CA. This rate may be modified in the future. What you’ll do on a typical day:
Direct the activities of Site and District Safety Managers within a high-volume, automated supply chain environment; partner closely with Operations leadership to achieve key safety and performance objectives across all shifts.
Champion a proactive safety culture within a high automation and PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) environment, ensuring safe interactions between associates, equipment, and automated systems
Lead and standardize case management processes, ensuring timely reporting, thorough investigation, and effective resolution of all incidents, injuries, and near misses
Oversee and enhance the onsite Athletic Trainer (AT) program, driving early intervention, injury prevention, ergonomic support, and effective return-to-work programs
Recognize and promote top safety performers to strengthen engagement and reinforce a culture of accountability and ownership
Identify trends and opportunities through data analysis (recordables, near misses, ergonomic risks) and provide clear, actionable direction to site and regional leadership
Develop and lead cross-functional safety initiatives to support a zero-incident culture, partnering with Operations, Engineering, HR, and Maintenance
Ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards, with a strong emphasis on PIT safety, automation safeguards, lockout/tagout, and material handling processes
Drive consistent execution of safety audits, risk assessments, and Gemba walks; implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
Partner with training teams to ensure robust onboarding and ongoing certification for PIT operators, automation technicians, and all safety-critical roles
Ensure all incidents, injuries, and regulatory matters are thoroughly investigated, root causes identified (RCCA), and sustainable corrective actions implemented
Establish clear goals and performance expectations for safety teams; coach leaders to use structured problem-solving methodologies (A3, RCCA) to drive long-term improvements
Collaborate with site leadership to integrate safety into daily operations, reinforcing that safety is a core value embedded in all processes—not a priority that shifts
What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience implementing environmental compliance programs
- 3 years of supervisory/management experience in a team-focused environment
- Experience interpreting and applying state and federal environmental regulations
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
It’d be great if you also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability or related field or equivalent related work or military experience
- 8 + years of experience implementing environmental compliance programs
- Project management experience
