Operations Support Manager
Are you a hands-on operational leader who thrives on turning data into action? Do you know what great warehouse operations look like and have the confidence to challenge the status quo? Can you balance safety, performance, people and customer expectations in a fast-paced 3PL environment?
We are looking for an Operations Support Manager to join our M&S site in Peterborough. You will play a pivotal role within our busy multi-customer 3PL operation. This is a highly visible position where you'll bridge the gap between operational strategy and day-to-day execution, ensuring our warehouse and transport functions perform at their best. You'll be a key support to the Operations Manager, leading reporting and support teams, driving operational improvements, maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance, and providing valuable insight that helps the business make informed decisions.
This is a full-time, permanent role, working Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00 predominately, but there is a requirement to be flexible.
Pay, benefits and more:
We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £43,392.17 per annum and 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays). Your benefits package includes flexible dental insurance plans, a company sponsored pension scheme, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more!
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead the collection, analysis and reporting of operational, financial and safety data to support business performance and decision-making
- Manage and develop Reporting Administrators, Operations Advisors and Transport Supervisors, ensuring priorities are aligned with customer and business requirements
- Support operational planning, workforce forecasting and KPI delivery across all warehouse functions, including Inbound, Picking and Dispatch
- Act as a key link between Operations, Transport and Customer teams, producing customer review packs and resolving operational queries
- Partner with Continuous Improvement and operational leaders to deliver lean projects, process improvements and operational excellence initiatives
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Proven experience within a high-volume, multi-user 3PL warehousing environment
- Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel skills and the ability to translate data into meaningful operational insights
- IOSH certification or a strong health and safety background with a passion for driving compliance and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and perform effectively under pressure
