HR Advisor - Part Time | WIN | Thales | Chippenham

Do you enjoy being a trusted advisor who makes a real difference to managers and employees? Are you at your best in a fast‑paced, operational environment where no two days are the same? Do you want a friendly, supportive culture where you can truly shape people practices across multiple sites?

Here at GXO, we’re looking for a HR Advisor to our Thales contract, providing hands-on, practical HR support across four sites (Chippenham – main base, plus Cheadle, Crawley and Templecombe).

This is a generalist, operational HR role, ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, leading on ER casework and being visible on site. Working 3 days per week (not Fridays), you’ll play a key role in embedding GXO values, supporting managers, and delivering both local and divisional HR strategies.

This is a part-time permanent position. You’ll be working 3 days per week, 09:00 till 17:00 with a requirement to travel between sites. However, some flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of £31,000 per annum (to be pro-rated), depending on experience and 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, (to be pro-rated). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to line managers, supporting performance management, employee relations and day-to-day people issues
  • Lead and manage HR casework end to end, including absence, disciplinary, grievance and long‑term sickness cases
  • Walk the floor regularly, building relationships and maintaining a strong, visible HR presence across sites
  • Own key people process such as probation, flexible working, maternity/paternity and absence management
  • Support recruitment activity, people data reporting, and HR input into operational projects such as TUPE or new business wins

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Proven experience in a generalist HR Advisor role, including complex ER casework in a fast‑moving environment
  • Strong working knowledge of employment legislation, best practice, and trade union engagement
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities
  • Confident, approachable communicator who builds credibility with managers and employees alike
  • CIPD Level 3 or 5 (or willingness to complete), good IT skills (Oracle experience desirable) and a full driving licence
