Joining us as our Transport Team Manager on a 6 Month FTC, you’ll lead our dynamic transport team in our Hams Hall depot, servicing for our customer Sainsburys. You’ll play a pivotal role in inspiring, supporting, leading our colleagues to achieve performance targets and exceed operational excellence.
This is a full time, 6 Month FTC opportunity. We operate a rota of 2 weeks of days 06:00-18:00 and 2 weeks of night 18:00-06:00 (Average hours 40 a week over 14 shifts in a 4-week period).

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £34,985.60 per annum and 264 hours annual leave (pro rata). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Be the engine of the operation, keeping the transport function running smoothly day‑to‑day and jumping in to support shift managers when things get busy
- Keep everything road‑legal, audit‑ready, and secure, staying on top of admin, legislation, tachographs, and security requirements
- Be the ultimate collaborator, working with internal teams and maintenance partners to avoid delays and keep the fleet serviced and ready to roll
- Lead, inspire, and grow great teams, motivating drivers and admin colleagues through 1‑to‑1s, coaching, recruitment, training, and succession planning
- Own performance and safety, managing reports, VORs, defects, sickness absence, and investigations to keep people safe and operations on track
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- You know your transport! Solid understanding of transport operations, driver hours, and EU/WTD regulations
- Details matter to you: you’re accurate, organised, and spot issues before they become problems
- A clear communicator: confident both on the phone and in writing, with the ability to keep everyone in the loop
- Cool under pressure: comfortable juggling priorities, hitting tight deadlines, and keeping calm when it’s busy
- Positive, flexible, and dependable: someone the team can rely on, day in and day out on shift
- Tech‑savvy and systems‑friendly: confident using MS Office and happy working with transport/distribution systems
