Senior Warehouse Shift Manager

Here at GXO, we are looking for Senior Warehouse Shift Manager for our drinks site in Derby. You will be supporting business growth and strengthen operational capability, support effective succession planning, and provide dedicated support to the Operations Manager. You will help ensure continuity of leadership, reduce operational risk, and maintain performance stability during periods of absence or transition. You will also enhance day to day decision making, improve responsiveness to operational challenges, and enable greater focus on strategic priorities by alleviating capacity pressures at management level. You will contribute to improved productivity, consistency in service delivery, and stronger stakeholder engagement across the function. Additionally, you will support talent development within the team, creating a clear pipeline of future leaders.
This is a full time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with 30 min paid break, 09:00 to 17:00. Some flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Overall responsibility for the Warehouse function with management of legal and operational compliance for the department
- Management, control and reporting of all costs, KPIs and operational statistics within budget
- Effective communication with the customer and internal colleagues and managing and leading a performance driven team
- Workforce planning and effective resourcing to cope with picking volumes and recruitment, learning and development and colleague communications
- Employee Relations, including experience dealing with Disciplinary, Absence and Grievance matters
- Challenge current practices through the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies and effectively manage costs
- Responsible for ensuring financial competitiveness of the warehouse
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Previous experience in a Warehouse Management role with commercial and financial awareness, including budgeting
- IOSH Managing Safely
- The ability to manage disciplinary, absence and grievance meetings
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office with preferred experience in DLX / SAP
- ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) – Level 3–5 in Leadership & Management
- CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport)
- Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing certifications
