As a Quality, Environmental, Safety and Health Specialist - BE/FR (technology industry, customer), you are responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the QESH management system within the assigned organization. The role has a primary focus on Health & Safety compliance, ensuring adherence to applicable legislation, corporate standards, and certification requirements, including ISO and other relevant standards.
You will be based in Ghlin, Belgium and will support other locations in France, so a clean EU driving license is required.
Key accountabilities:
- Provide clear, practical QESH guidance to warehouse leaders and operational teams, helping ensure safe, compliant and efficient day-to-day operations
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement, toolbox talks, training and visible support across the site
- Monitor QESH performance, analyse trends and support root cause investigations with effective corrective and preventive actions
- Lead or support audits, workplace inspections, risk assessments, compliance reviews and incident investigations, including ISO, customer and regulatory requirements
- Maintain key QESH documentation, including safe systems of work, environmental assessments, operating procedures and statutory records
- Work closely with employees, contractors, suppliers, customers, regulators and external auditors to manage QESH risks and drive practical improvements
- Support emergency preparedness, contractor management, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programmes across the operation
- Contribute to site QESH objectives, KPIs and performance targets, supporting a zero-harm culture and operational excellence
- Where applicable, support Belgium and France statutory requirements, including Prevention Advisor duties, employee consultation bodies, DUERP, Global Prevention Plans and Plans de Prévention
What you need to succeed at GXO
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, preferably a technical field, combined with strong analytical skills
- Belgian Prevention Advisor Level II qualification
- Demonstrated knowledge of French Labour Code Health & Safety requirements, including DUERP, Plan de Prévention and contractor management processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of QESH management systems such as ISO or other site-specific standards, supported by relevant certifications or training
- Broad experience in the field of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within a complex, multi-dimensional organization within Belgium (preferred: also working experience in France)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in both French and English, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels
