Transport Team Leader

Here at GXO, we’re looking for a Transport Team Leader to join us at our Greene King Food Service site in Trafford Park. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to take a step into first line management. This role will offer development training and support to help aspiring managers in their journey within GXO.

 

Please note that this role is initially based at Trafford Park but be aware that our site will be moving to Middleton in early 2026. Let's steer our transport success together!

 

You will be working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, start times will vary between the hours of 04:00 and 08:00, therefore flexibility is key!

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £28,537.60 per annum. In addition, we offer 23.5 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Manage, coach, and develop your team of drivers to ensure optimum performance and efficiency
  • Ensure the effective kick-out, Transport Admin and de-briefing of all drivers
  • Support the team to meet operational objectives such as service provision, productivity, and compliance KPIs
  • Be the focal point for all drivers and customer service-related queries and to resolve all issues
  • Deliver and support ongoing continuous improvement projects

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced transport team, preferably with exposure to temperature-controlled deliveries, transport compliance and Working Time Directive (desirable)
  • The ability to effectively communicate in both a written and verbal capacity whilst building relationships with customers
  • Computer-literate, to include Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Due to the shift times, you will need to be able to drive or get to site as local transport is restrictive at these times
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers & other internal departments
