Northern Regional Distribution Manager

Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for a Regional Distribution Manager to join our team on our BT contract, being based in Northallerton with frequent travel required to cover our other northern sites in Haydock, Mallusk (NI) and Motherwell (Scotland). As a Regional Distribution Manager, you will be responsible for managing the overall performance of the Northern Transport Operations while ensuring that all interfaces, internally and externally are met.

 

This role is a permanent, full-time position working predominately Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00 however, flexibility is required, this is logistics after all!

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £55,000.00 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Plan, implement and manage the Fleet/Transport activities through clearly communicated processes and KPI’s to achieve contractual requirements
  • Responsibility for overall health and safety in line with recommended QSHE procedures whilst building ‘world class’ health and safety standards
  • Develop and deliver site business plans aligned to GXO’s strategic growth, while managing customer relationships proactively and ensuring all engagement is professional, strategic, and forward‑focused
  • Facilitate and encourage employee development through use of Success Factors/ GXO University system, including succession planning to identify high potential employees and underpin the growth of the site and BU
  • Monitor expenditure and revenue while, reviewing methods to improve operations to maximise performance
  • Develop and motivate direct reports to meet and exceed current and future requirements, identifying skill gaps and implementing targeted upskilling initiatives aligned to business objectives

 

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Full International Management Certificate of Competence (CPC)
  • Indirect management of a large workforce (250+ employees), with strong experience coaching and mentoring senior managers to unlock their full potential
  • Thorough financial acumen and experience of developing a P&L
  • Demonstrate sustainable improvements within the Health and Safety and Human Recourses area
  • Understanding and implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives  
  • Customer focused with a proven record of meeting and exceeding customer expectations
