Transport Planner

Here at GXO Northallerton we are looking for a Transport Planner to join our busy national planning centre in Northallerton, where you’ll ensure the safe delivery of BT products throughout the UK. 

 

You will support the central planning team in completing daily tasks and providing operational cover on a 24/5 basis, shift patterns that would need to be covered when requested.

 

This is a full time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00 and 09:00 – 17:00. Occasionally, you may need to cover a night shift so flexibility is essential.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Supporting the planning team with operational requests
  • Monitoring and sharing knowledge on Transport Management systems
  • Working with 3rd party suppliers to test upcoming releases to upgrade systems
  • Dealing with escalations from customers and internal help desk
  • Building a knowledge of operational and planning to have cover for planners during A/L

 

 What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Previous experience working within a transport environment preferred, with drivers’ hours knowledge being highly desirable
  • Strong customer service focus with excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility to cover various shift patterns when required
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office packages (Word, Excel), experience working with Paragon routing and scheduling software would be advantageous
