Assistant Accountant

Join us as our Assistant Accountant, based in our Controllership department in our Northampton Head Office.


This is a full time, permanent position based on site. Working Monday to Friday within the hours of 08:00 to 17:00.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Own the end-to-end capital project setup process, ensuring accurate project creation, maintenance, and governance
  • Coordinate and manage approval workflows, acting as the key liaison between Operational teams and Finance stakeholders to ensure timely project approvals
  • Process fixed asset transactions including disposals, transfers, and impairments, maintaining robust audit trails and compliance documentation
  • Manage the full asset capitalisation lifecycle, from PO approval through to final capitalisation, ensuring adherence to approved business cases and company policies
  • Support financial control activities through account management, month-end journals, reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and wider Finance Controllership support

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Finance background gained through academic study (e.g., degree) and/or practical finance experience, with a commitment to pursuing an accounting qualification
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyse financial information accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills, ensuring high levels of accuracy and compliance
  • Confident communicator who can build effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly organised and proactive, with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
