General Manager

Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for a General Manager in Avonmouth, supporting one of our new business wins! As General Manager and a key member of the senior leadership team at our new site, you will play a critical role in shaping the foundation and long-term success of the operation. You will lead the site through its startup phase, embedding robust operational practices, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring alignment with strategic business goals. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will drive commercial performance, champion continuous improvement, and build strong cross-functional relationships to deliver exceptional service and sustainable growth.
This is a full time, permanent position, predominately working Monday to Friday, 09:00 till 17:00. However, we do ask for some flexibility due to the nature of the role, this is logistics after all!

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £100,000.00 per annum, you’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the site leadership team, ensuring all departments operate in alignment with business objectives to ensure best in class standards for safety, people and service
- Drive accountability across functions to consistently meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), fostering a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and high performance
- Act as the primary point of contact for the customer, building and nurturing strong, trust-based relationships through a collaborative, partnership-led approach
- Ensure the overall smooth running of the operation across the 885,000 sq. ft operation
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Proven experience in a similar senior management role and environment working with a high-profile customer
- Experience of leading and developing a team and all associated people processes
- Awareness of differing commercial mechanisms as well as understanding P&Ls
- Prior experience within an eCommerce environment is advantageous
