Transport Shift Manager

Here at GXO, we’re recruiting for a Transport Shift Manager to support our Wickes operation at Portbury. This is a full‑time, permanent role, working Tuesday to Saturday, 08:00 – 16:00, where you’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership of drivers and transport operations, ensuring safe, compliant and high‑performing service delivery across the contract.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £33,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts

 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Lead, motivate and support drivers both on‑site and remotely to achieve planned targets and service KPIs
  • Ensure transport operations comply with drivers’ hours, WTD, tachograph and road traffic legislation
  • Deliver daily driver briefings and debriefs, communicating performance, safety updates and operational priorities
  • Manage absences, agency resource and driver conduct, including performance and people management actions
  • Promote safe driver behaviours, near‑miss reporting and a strong health & safety culture

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Previous experience in a transport or fleet management role
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation, drivers’ hours and compliance requirements
  • Confident people management skills with the ability to lead, engage and challenge teams
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A flexible, proactive approach with strong attention to detail
