Planning Manager

Dedicated to the M&S Brands operation at Thorncliffe, you’ll be responsible for leading all aspects of operational planning on site, ensuring resource and capacity plans are in line with customer volume forecasts and budgeted cost expectations.

 

This role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis, and the hours of work are Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00, however should you prefer there is the option to work 08:30 – 16:30 or 09:00 – 17:00.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Develop long term resource plans to ensure forecasted customer volumes are achieved
  • Project future storage requirements and come up with solutions to mitigate occupancy risks
  • Maintain the SKU layout in the warehouse ensuring maximum productivity can be achieved when picking
  • Identify future resource risks and work with the Operational Management team to mitigate the risks
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the customer to agree future resource and capacity plans
  • Lead the team in a professional manner displaying consistency, honesty and integrity at all times
  • Support the training strategy to ensure colleague development and sufficient coverage of all skills
  • Ensure shift patterns and schedules are in line with daily volume plans and working time directive requirements

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Experience in demand, capacity, and resource planning, preferably in third party logistics or a similar environment 
  • Confident communication skills as you’ll be liaising with multiple functions across the business, such as operations, finance and HR, senior management and the customer
  • You’ll need to work well on your own initiative, taking responsibility for processes and your workload, as well as that of your team
  • Managing change and changing priorities will not phase you
