Here at GXO, we have a fantastic opportunity to recruit for an Assistant General Manager to join our team in Swindon, supporting our two sites for our customer, Iceland. Reporting into the General Manager and taking full responsibility for leading all aspects of the warehousing logistics, you will ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations while delivering outstanding service levels, fostering a high performance and engaged team culture.

 

This is a full time, permanent position, predominately working Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 16:00. However, due to the seniority of the role we do ask for some flexibility.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £80,000.00 per annum, a company car or car allowance of £505.00 per calendar month, a 10% performance related bonus and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Daily oversight and direction of the 3 chambers of the warehouse logistics operation across both Swindon Iceland sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, company policies and food standards
  • Manage team scheduling, resource allocation and workflow optimisation across multiple temperature-controlled environments
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to food safety, hygiene and health & safety protocols unique required for temperature-controlled operations
  • Support Site Planning & CI Manager with pipeline development

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • Recognised industry certifications such as IOSH, HACCP, Six Sigma is advantageous but training will be given
  • Analytical, data-driven approach to operational improvement and problem-solving
  • Significant experience in multi-temperature logistics/warehousing within FMCG, retail or food distribution
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety, food safety and regulatory requirements for cold chain operations
