Site Engineer
Why this role matters
Are you a self-driven Site Engineer who enjoys turning plans into practical improvements? At our fashion retail operation in Tilburg, you will own the local implementation of technical, IT and software-related projects and make sure solutions work in practice.
This is not a desk-only engineering position. You will spend a substantial part of your time in the warehouse, speaking with users and stakeholders, organizing training and following up with delivery teams. You will have considerable freedom to move projects forward, with coaching and direction from the local Engineering lead.
You will report directly to the local Engineering lead and work alongside two Site Engineers supporting the fashion retail operation in Tilburg. The role is fully site-based and working from home is not possible. As an indication, the balance may be around 30% desk-based work and 70% coordination and implementation in the warehouse, depending on the projects.
What's in it for you
- Ownership of visible projects that directly improve the Tilburg warehouse operation.
- The freedom to organize your work and drive implementation, supported by regular coaching and direction.
- Exposure to adaptive technology, IT change requests, warehouse systems and software implementations.
- The opportunity to develop locally and potentially progress towards business-unit or multisite responsibilities.
- A dynamic and international workplace where initiative, communication and follow-through are valued.
- A competitive salary and benefits package.
How you'll make an impact
- Own and execute an assigned portfolio and roadmap of local engineering and implementation projects.
- Implement adaptive and ergonomic technology, IT change requests and new software solutions in the warehouse.
- Coordinate stakeholders across Operations, IT, Facilities and other support functions, and actively follow up or escalate when delivery is at risk.
- Turn project plans into practical changes on the warehouse floor, including system changes, scanner implementations and adjustments to operational materials or processes.
- Organize training and support warehouse users and operators during implementation and adoption.
- Monitor progress, update the agreed project tracking tools and discuss priorities and direction in weekly team meetings.
- Build support for changes by communicating clearly, listening to users and convincing stakeholders of the proposed approach.
- Help ensure that connected systems, data flows and processes work as intended after implementation.
What you'll bring to GXO
- At least one year of relevant experience in engineering, logistics, project implementation, IT change or continuous improvement.
- A self-driven and open-minded approach, with the confidence to take ownership and move work forward independently.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills; you can collaborate with IT, Facilities, Operations and warehouse users.
- The ability to influence and convince colleagues when implementing change.
- A practical, hands-on mindset and a willingness to spend significant time in the warehouse.
- Good organizational skills and sufficient discipline to manage project administration and progress updates.
- An interest in warehouse technology, systems, software and process improvement.
- Good communication skills in English; Dutch is an advantage.
