Senior General Manager

Are you a senior logistics leader who can really deliver? Do you have the strategic vision to lead large-scale warehouse and transport operations while maintaining a relentless focus on safety, service, people, and commercial performance? Ready to take ownership of a complex national network and play a key role in shaping its future?

GXO is currently looking for a Senior General Manager to join our B&Q Supply Chain Fulfilment Network. Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll hold end-to-end accountability for a major region within one of GXO's most important retail partnerships, leading multiple warehouse and transport operations across the UK.

This is a highly visible executive leadership role with responsibility for a network of 11 sites, a headcount of up to 500 colleagues, and a £50m+ operation. You'll lead a team of senior operational leaders, driving strategic growth, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance across the network.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday. Given the scale of the operation, frequent UK travel will be required.

Pay, benefits and more:

You’ll be paid a salary of £95,000 - £105,000 per annum, depending upon experience. You’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. Your benefits package includes a company car or car allowance of £595 per calendar month, a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical and dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more. You’ll also have access to our GXO University which provides you with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with. There’s also our continued focus on internal promotions, over 55% last year!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Provide strategic leadership across a national warehouse and transport network, ensuring operational, customer, and commercial objectives are achieved
  • Take full ownership of the network P&L, driving financial performance, cost optimisation, and sustainable growth
  • Lead and develop a team of senior operational leaders, creating a high-performing culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Drive service excellence by ensuring customer SLAs and KPIs are consistently achieved across all locations
  • Champion the highest standards of health, safety, compliance, and operational governance throughout the network

What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Significant senior leadership experience within large-scale logistics, supply chain, warehousing, or transport operations
  • Proven ownership of substantial operational budgets and P&L responsibility within a multi-site environment
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience balancing customer expectations, operational performance, and financial outcomes
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level
  • Demonstrable experience leading large-scale change, transformation, automation, or operational improvement programmes
