Training Manager
Can you turn health & safety training into something people genuinely believe in, not just attend? Are you the kind of Training Manager who changes behaviour on the floor, not just files in a system? Someone who understands that great safety training explains not only how to work safely, but why it matters?
Here at GXO, safety is non‑negotiable. We’re looking for a Training Manager in our Kraft Heinz site at Wigan to drive mandatory training across two sites, ensuring colleagues are compliant, competent and confident in how they work. Training isn’t just about compliance, it’s about protecting our people and doing the right thing, every day. You’ll play a key role in shaping how safety is understood, embedded and lived across our sites.
You’ll bring experience in operational or safety training and ideally hold (or be working towards) IOSH or equivalent, Train‑the‑Trainer, and MHE Instructor qualifications. More importantly, you’ll have the presence, credibility and passion to embed a safety‑first mindset through high‑quality, practical training.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based role reporting to the H&S Manager, with real ownership, visibility and impact.
This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week, across any ‘5 out of 7’ schedule. Days and times worked will vary to accommodate the 24/7 operation of the site.
Pay, benefits and more:
We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £33,945.00 and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical & dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more!
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Plan and manage the annual H&S training programme across both sites
- Deliver and coordinate SSOW, MHE, refresher and induction training, ensuring full sign‑off
- Track training compliance, certifications and expiry dates, keeping records audit‑ready
- Partner with managers to identify training needs and close skills or compliance gaps
- Use training as a proactive tool to strengthen safety culture and reduce risk
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Experience delivering or coordinating training in a manufacturing, logistics or warehousing environment
- Strong knowledge of SSOW, inductions and MHE training requirements
- Confident, credible communication style with the ability to influence on the shop floor
- Flexibility to work across two sites, with strong IT skills (Excel, training systems, MS Teams)
